Results for Coastal Cheer & Dance Big League Brawl

After over a month off from competitions, the three full year teams were back on the floor on Jan 22 at the Coastal Cheer & Dance Big League Brawl in Springfield, MA.  Aside from some dropped stunts, the Junior 2 Divas team looked strong.  They placed third in their division.  The young Senior 3 Dream team pulled in Mariah G. from the Senior 4 team to fill in for a cheerleader who was unavailable due to illness and tied for third in their division.  The Senior 4 Sensations relied on the strength of their tumbling and their choreography to overcome some dropped stunts to pull out first place in their division.  The Senior 4 team capped the win with the judges' Wow! award.  The teams are back in action next weekend at The Athletic Championships in Providence, RI.

Be sure to check out the competition schedule for the entire season.

Results for US Finals
It was a three team sweep for CVP.  For the second year in a row, the Junior 2, Senior 3 and Senior 4 teams all won their divisions.  All three teams put on stellar performances to close out the year.  Special recognition to the Junior 2 team and especially the Junior 2 coaches for revamping the routine due to injury on two days notice and with only one practice.  That is a huge testament to the dedication and resiliency of the cheerleaders and the coaches.  The Senior 4 team had the second highest score for the entire competition, only being beaten by a Level 6 Open Co-Ed team.  All three teams will be judged against other teams in the same divisions at the seven other regional championships to determine a national champion.  Results will be available on the US Finals web site in late May.

Results for International All-Levels Championships

The Senior 3 Large team shined at the International All-Levels Championships on April 17th, taking home first place in the Small Gym Large Senior 3 division.  The   team looked fantastic.  Their tumbling was outstanding, the stunts were crisp, and the movements were exceptionally clean given that there were 34(!) girls on the floor.  The fan support was outstanding, especially since the gym only had one team in the competition.  Everyone is looking forward to the final performance of the season on May 7th in Providence at US Finals.

Results for Xtreme Spirit Championships

CVP had an impressive day as a gym at the Xtreme Spirit Championships held in New Haven, CT.  The Youth 1 team won their division and were Level Champions across all age groups in Level 1.  The Junior team took second place honors in their division.  The Senior 3 team won their division and were Level Champions across all age groups in Level 3.  The Senior 4 team won their division.  The Open Team won their division, won Level Champions and won Grand Champions for highest score of the day for all of the teams at the competition.  The CVP fans were vocal and supportive once again.  Despite the cold-ish weather, a good time was had by all tailgating in the parking lot after the competition.

Results for Cheersport Championships
The results of the Cheersport Championships held on April 3 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, MA are in.  The Youth team captured third place in a division of seven and the the Junior team placed sixth in the largest division of the competition.  The Senior 4 team won their division despite the announcement of coming in second.  The scoresheets reflected that the results were never in doubt and that it was an announcing error.  In true CVP spirit, the Senior 4 team was graceful and sportsmanlike when the original announcement was made.  There's more to the CVP cheerleader than great cheer skills!  Thanks to some quick legwork by Coach Chris, the team left the competition with the appropriate banner and trophy.  Ask her about it some time!  Nice work by all the cheerleaders!

Results for NECA Championships
Apologies from the CVP webmaster for being delinquent in reporting the results of the NECA Championships held on March 26 at the Ryan Center on the campus of the University of Rhode Island.  The Youth team captured fourth the the Junior team captured fifth in a tightly contested division.  The Open Team placed second after an unfortunate injury affected the routine.  The Senior 4 team won their division, won the Level 4 Grand Champions, and won a Gold Bid to the Xtreme Championships.  Special shout-out to Britt Puzio for filling in as a flyer with very little practice time.  Britt executed the routine like she had been doing it all season long.  Nice work Britt!

Results for NCA Nationals @ Dallas

The tiny little gym from Connecticut made a giant name for itself in Dallas at the 2011 NCA Nationals on Sunday, February 27. As the only gym from New England, CVP competed on a truly national stage against teams from Texas, California, Oklahoma, Kansas, Georgia, Utah, and Oregon. The CVP Senior teams followed up their stellar Day 1 performances with Day 2 performances that landed them top two finishes in their divisions. The Senior 3 Small team won the title of National Champions by delivering solid performances on both days. In addition, the Senior 3 Small team won the Innovative Choreography award in their division. The Senior 3 Large team captured second place in a very closely contested division (the difference between first and second was less than one point). The CVP gym was well represented on all fronts by friends, family, cheerleaders, and coaches.

With 35,000 spectators watching almost 16,000 cheerleaders compete in 95 divisions, the 2011 NCA Nationals was truly a spectacle that will not soon be forgotten.

CVP is the first All-Star Cheer Program from Connecticut to win at NCA All-Star Nationals!

Results for Day 1 NCA Nationals @ Dallas

The CVP Senior teams entered the NCA Nationals in Dallas on Saturday, February 26 determined to prove that good things do indeed come in small packages.  Or in this case, small gyms.  Mission accomplished.  In spades.  Both teams were competing in the Small Gym categories of their respective divisions (Level 3 Large Senior and Level 3 Small Senior).  After the Day 1 routines, both teams sit atop their divisions in first place.  The Senior 3 Small team holds a 3.6 point lead over the second place team while the Senior 3 Large team owns a lead of less than one point.  Saturday's routines count for only 20% of the total score, so anything can happen on Sunday.  With the judging emphasis for this competition being on clean, crisp, and precise performances, both teams need to hit their Sunday routines like they know they can.  Two teams, one dream!

Results for Spirit Cheer @ Hartford
Congratulations to all the CVP teams that competed at Spirit Cheer this past weekend.  The Youth team finished Day 1 in sixth place and then moved up on the second day to finish in fifth.  The Junior team landed in fourth place (out of eleven) after Day 1 and moved up to finish third on Day 2.  This is an outstanding achievment given that this is the team with the most cheerleaders that are new to CVP.  The Senior 3 team lead off on Day one with an outstanding performance that put them in second place, less than a point out of first.  Unfortunately Day 2 was not as nice to them and they finished fourth.  In their first competition of the season, the Open team finished second.  CVP received a support and loyalty award, one of only five gyms that received such an award.

Results for The Athletics Championshps @ Providence

It was a great weekend for the CVP family at The Athletics Championships in Providence, RI.  The Senior 3 team followed up an outstanding performance on Saturday with an even better performance on Sunday to capture the title of Platinum National Champions.  The routines on both days were awe inspiring.  The Senior 4 team showed their true dedication and team spirit by placing 4th in their division despite some incredibly bad luck at the end of the week.  Faced with a last minute injury that almost kept them from competing, the team was able to find a replacement on two hours notice, change the routine with one two hour practice, and then take to the floor and hold their own against some very powerful gyms.  The Junior 2 team really came together this weekend with two solid performances to land them a 2nd place finish in their division.  Despite being young and comprised of many girls that are new to the CVP family, the team performed like veterans against some much larger gyms.  Nice job by everyone!

Results for Spirit Fest @ Mohegan Sun

The Senior 3 team lead the way for the CVP family this weekend at the Spirit Fest competition at Mohegan Sun.  The Senior 3 team not only won their division, but they captured Best Tumbling, a High Roller Award, and one of two paid bids (selected from all divisions in the entire competition) to the All Levels World Championships.  Their routines were exciting and clean.  There was no doubt who was top dog in the Senior 3 division.  The Senior 4 team placed 2nd in their division.  The Junior team placed 7th and the Youth team placed 4th of 11 in their very first competition of the year.  It was a good weekend.  On to Providence in two weeks!

Official results from the Spirit Fest web site are available.

Results for Jingle Jam

CVP made some noise at the Jingle Jam on Dec 11, 2010 at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA.  The Junior 2 team finished 5th, the Senior 3 team finished 2nd and won Most Entertaining, and in a hotly contested division the Senior 4 team finished 2nd, only twenty five one thousandths of a point out of first place.  Interestingly enough, the Senior 3 and Senior 4 team scores were exactly the same - right down to the thousandth.

CVP kicked off the season at Spirit Unlimited

CVP started off this year's cheer season with top two finishes in every division they entered.  The Senior 3 team WON their division while the Senior 4 and Junior 2 teams placed second in their respective divisions.  In addition to winning their division, the Senior 3 team took home the award for Best Tumbling across all divisions.  The Senior 4 team won Best Jumps.  Everyone is looking forward to improved performances next week at the Jingle Jam in Worcester.
